los ultimos dias

The past few days...

have been full of exploring the city, shopping, eating long lunches and late dinners, drinking wine and chatting with everyone about their cultures. My new roommate Uli just moved in, he's from Germany, and there's Sergio from Peru...who I just learned is studying theatre! I told him Mom was a director and he was really excited to hear that. The three of us talked for a long time.

Yesterday Valerie, Gabriela and I wandered around the park near our apartments called El Parque Sarmiento. We discovered a theme park!!! It's not Disney Land or anything, but it's kind of like the Fun Forest in Seattle, small and kind of crappy. But so fun. We rode one of those rides that swings you back and forth until you go all the way around.

There's also a zoo in the park and a lot more to explore.
All in all, it's been a great few days before school starts and I'm really settling in. I can't wait to get to know the city more and more. Everything is so cheap here!! Dinner last night, including splitting a bottle of wine, a big entree and tip cost me only 16 pesos which is 5 dollars!

Finally, here are some pictures of my room (you can't really tell, but it's big!) and the terraza (terrace) that I have been sunbathing on.

Check out the grill, it's a monster!
I'm really excited about how good my Spanish is getting! Although, I'm mostly speaking with Mexicans, and their accent is really easy to understand for me. But I'm doing well with the cordobeses.
That's all for now...orientation starts tomorrow so I'm anxious for that. I will try to upload as many pictures as I can but this website is being super slow. Anyways, chao! (Los argentinos say chao like los italianos say ciao...they sound the same but are obviously spelled differently. I love it!)
