everything's a nickname

Here are nicknames some Argentines have endearingly bestowed upon me:

la yanqui - yankee
la rubia - blonde/fair-skinned
la gringita - little gringa
la flaca - thin
la narigona - big-nosed (!)

It's also common to be called things like preciosa, bonita, amor, querida by your professors, by people in stores, by people just walking down the street asking for directions. All nicknames are endearing. And sometimes surprising...rubia? Narigona? Um...thanks? Whatever. I'll accept being called narigona if they still call me flaca!
